Cleo J. Green, daughter of Jack and Alice (Mix) Green, was born on October 4, 1948, in Ely, Nevada. She grew up on a farm near Leader, MN, where she and her family were members of Leader Lutheran Church. As a young girl, she attended school in Swan Valley and at Leader Country School before graduating from Motley High School. Cleo went on to further her education at Wadena Technical School, where she earned a degree in cosmetology.

On May 18, 1969, Cleo was united in marriage to Mark Holtberg at Glenwood Lutheran Church. Their marriage was blessed with three daughters, Nancy, Shelly, and Kayla.

In 1974, Cleo and Mark moved to their current home in rural Glenwood. There Cleo raised vegetable and flower gardens and enjoyed watching the wildlife and birds. She also enjoyed reading, canning the produce she raised, as well as making homemade wine and baking. She was an avid quilter and a member and officer of Lakes Area Quilters in Alexandria and Bit’s and Pieces Quilting in Starbuck. Over the years Cleo lovingly made and shared her quilts with family and friends.
