Ethel L. Anderson, age 90 of Golden Valley, formerly NE Minneapolis and Lake Linka, rural Glenwood, died Monday, March 27, 2017 at Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, MN.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Chippewa Falls Lutheran Church in Terrace with Pastor Bonnie Lomen officiating.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.  Interment will be in Chippewa Falls Lutheran Cemetery.  Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood. 

Ethel Lorraine Anderson, the daughter of Orrill and Marcella (Hildebrand) Johnson was born March 26, 1927 at home in rural Benson, MN.  She grew up on a farm in Torning Township where she attended Country School District #65 and attended the Pilgrim Congregational
Church. Ethel attended high school in Benson where she was active in 4H for 10 years.  She graduated from Benson High School in 1945.

Ethel was united in marriage to Virgil G. Anderson on November 23, 1953 at Pilgrim Congregational Church in Benson.  The couple made their home in Northeast Minneapolis.  While living in Benson, Ethel was employed at Swift County Bank and after moving to the cities, Fidelity Bank in Northeast Minneapolis.  This marriage was blessed with three children. Ethel and Virgil belonged to Mt. Carmel Lutheran Church. The couple remained in Minneapolis, but spent many weekends on their property on Lake Linka. They built a log home there for their retirement. After moving to Lake Linka, Ethel and Virgil were very active at the Terrace Mill. They became members of Chippewa Falls Lutheran Church where Ethel was active in church circle.  Ethel enjoyed knitting, doing counted cross-stitch, quilting and sewing Norwegian Hardanger.  She was the treasurer of the Lake Linka Yacht Club for many years and rarely missed any activity at the Terrace Mill.  She will be remembered for her Swedish meatballs and her beautiful Norwegian Hardanger.  Ethel passed away March 27, 2017, just one day after her 90^th birthday at Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park. 

She is survived by her children: Virginia (Harry) Rousu of Baxter, MN, Victoria (Ronald) Rabe of Nevis, MN and Thomas (Suzanne) Anderson of Coon Rapids, MN; grandchildren: Roxanne Rabe, Benjamin Anderson, Wade Rousu, Matthew (Amanda) Rabe, Wyatt (Lindsay) Rousu and Cynthia Anderson; sisters, Marjorie Mitteness of Olathe, KS and Nancy Vollmer of Benson, MN; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Ethel is preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Anderson in 2002, her parents and sister, Dorothy Smith. 

Ethel was loved dearly and will be missed.
