Harold John Fangman, the son of Andrew and Amelia (Hellman) Fangman was born July 22, 1922 on a farm near Bancroft, Iowa. He grew up near Bancroft where he went to country school and was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.

On May 14, 1945, Harold entered the United States Navy. He served his country during WWII and was honorably discharged July 17, 1946. Harold was united in marriage to Shirley Mae Gill on September 27, 1948 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Bancroft. The couple made their home on a farm near Bancroft. In 1963, Harold and Shirley moved to a farm in Rolfe, Iowa before moving to their current farm near Glenwood, Minnesota in 1977. Harold and Shirley shared 69 years of marriage and were blessed with 4 children: Joanne, Charles, Ruth, Diane, and later Robert joined the family when he was 3 ½ years old.

Harold was a member of the American Legion in both Iowa and Glenwood and Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He enjoyed gardening, both vegetables and raised gladiolas that decorated Sacred Heart. He enjoyed fishing and being on the lake in a boat along with sitting relaxing on his porch swing in the evening. Harold enjoyed listing to and dancing with Shirley to polka music. He will be remembered as a strong man, physically and spiritually. He was an excellent, wonderful father and loving and caring husband. Harold loved his life he chose; he was a good farmer and livestock man. He could fix anything broken with whatever his strong hands could find and mend any creature hurt. If given a seed he could make it grow and flourish into the most beautiful crop. He was a true, honest man of God. Harold finally got to meet his God on February 9, 2018.
