James DeWayne Majerus, the son of John and Olive (Flahaven) Majerus, was born on November 3, 1927 near Brooten MN.  He grew up on a farm in Bangor Township near Brooten.  He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sedan, and served as an altar boy there at a young age.  Jim graduated from Brooten High School in 1945.  After graduation he served in the Army at the end of World War II in 1945 and 1946.

Jim was married to Beulah Deaton in a snowstorm on February 21, 1953 at the Glenwood Lutheran Church Chapel. The couple made their home in Minneapolis MN for two years while Jim was employed at International Harvester.  The young family then moved to a farm near Westport.  In 1958, they purchased a farm by Villard and raised their family there.  Jim and Beulah moved into their retirement home near Grove Lake in 1986.

Jim served on the Villard school board, the Grove Lake township board, and the FHA board.

He never turned down an opportunity to ride in parades as a World War II vet.  He enjoyed playing card games, mowing lawn, and tending to his flowers.  Jim also enjoyed watching his grandchildren in sporting events, music programs and whatever else they participated in.  He was one of their biggest fans.  He passed away March 27, 2017 at the Glenwood Retirement Village.

Jim is survived by his children: Robert (Donna) Majerus of Villard, Diane (Steven) Hammond of Fergus Falls, Linda (Daniel) Jenniges of Glenwood and Karen (Larry) Aubart of Starbuck; grandchildren and great grandchildren: Mark (Lindsay) Majerus and their children, Hadley and McCoy; Matthew (Morgan) Majerus; Michael (Holly) Hammond and daughter, Kimberly; Jennifer (Tyler) Jensen and children, Lili, Logan and Liam; James (Val Ahumada) Poock and daughter, Rayen; Ryan (Lindsay) Poock and sons, Charles and Barrett; Patrick Rooney and son, Peyton; Amy (Jason) Vanzee and their children, Dylan, Jackson and Paisley.  He is also survived by several step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Beulah in 2002, grandson Jason Rooney in 2015, and his sisters Marie, Phyllis, Lorraine, and Dolores.

Jim will be fondly remembered for his sense of humor, his devotion to his family, his work ethic, and his easy way of talking with people.

He was very proud of his Irish Heritage.  One of his favorite sayings was, "There are only two kinds of people in this world- those who are Irish and those who wish they were!"

Jim will be dearly missed.
