Lillian Nemmers, age 105, of Glenwood, MN, died Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at her home in Glenwood, MN. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 8th, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grove Lake, MN, with Rev. Philip Beyersdorf officiating. Visitation will be at the church, one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Grove Lake Cemetery. Arrangements are with Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home of Glenwood.

Lillian Elenora Wulff was born April 6, 1911, on a farm west of Lakefield, in Rost Township, Jackson County, Minnesota, to Oscar and Mary (Voehl) Wulff. She was baptized on April 30, 1911, at St Paul’s Lutheran in Rost Township.

Lillian attended school in Lakefield until 1921, when her family moved to Fulda. Her education continued at St. Paul’s Lutheran School and Fulda High School.

Lillian was married to Florian “Ole” Nemmers on February 14, 1930, in Slayton, MN. They farmed on several farms near Fulda and Slayton before moving to a farm near Sedan in 1945. This union was blessed with four children. Florian passed away April 14, 1963.

In 1967, Lillian began working out of the home at Kanne Hardware in Brooten and later at the Glenwood Bakery. Lillian was a very active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Grove Lake where she was a Sunday school, VBS teacher, and ladies aid member.

She loved spending time with all her family. Her hobbies included gardening, especially flowers, and sewing. She also enjoyed crocheting and blessed her family and many others with beautiful and warm afghans. She was also an avid Minnesota Twins fan.

In 1982, at age 71, Lillian sold her farm and moved to Park Crest Apartments in Glenwood, where she lived independently until she was 100 years of age. In 2011, she became a resident at Glenwood Estates, where she resided until her death on March 28, 2017, just nine days short of her 106th birthday.

Lillian is survived by her daughter, Deloris Judes of Glenwood; sons, Arvin (Sharon) of Lampe, MO, Gary (Karen) of Sauk Centre, and Gene (Annette) of Elk River; 16 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Florian; son-in-law, Darwin Judes; three grandchildren, Darrel Judes, Donna (Judes) Bachen, and an infant granddaughter, Baby Judes; two great-grandchildren, Brandon Snare and Matthew Snare; her brother, Harold Wulff; and her sisters, Evelyn Horkey and Hazel Paulson.

The Lord gives and the Lord takes away; blessed be the name of the Lord. We give thanks to our Lord for Lillian.
