Margaret Vesledahl, age 92, of Glenwood, formerly of Brooten, died Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, June 6^th, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brooten, with Pastor Bonnie Lomen officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. at the church in Brooten and will continue there on Tuesday morning, one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Brooten. Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home of Brooten.

Margaret Alice Plowman, daughter of Fred and Maggie (Gort) Plowman, was born on September 27, 1924, in Brooten, MN. She grew up on a farm near Brooten and attended country school West of Brooten. She and her family were members of Brooten Christian Reformed Church and later became members at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brooten.

Margaret was united in marriage to Allan Vesledahl on December 3, 1946 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brooten. The two made their home in Brooten and their marriage was blessed with eight children.

In 1960, after working for several years for Alton Jensen at the locker plant in Brooten, Allan was able to purchase the business and for the next 11 years, he, Margaret, and their family operated “Vesledahl Lockers”. The two shared 56 years of marriage before Allan’s death on March 27, 2003, his 92^nd birthday.

In addition to being a member of the Ladies Aid at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brooten, Margaret also belonged to a quilters group, the Red Hat Society, and was active with the Brooten Senior Citizen group. She volunteered at the Brooten Food Shelf and was honored to be named as a WCCO Good Neighbor of the Day.

Margaret’s hobbies included reading, playing cards, putting together jigsaw puzzles, and meeting the ladies for morning coffee. She gave countless rides to others who depended on her for their transportation. She will be remembered for her strong faith in God, the love she had for her family, and her willingness to help others in need.

Margaret died on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood, having lived to the age of 92 years. She will be greatly missed.

Margaret is survived by her son, Dale (Jan) Vesledahl of Cape Coral, FL; seven daughters, Barb Knutson of Maple Grove, Lorraine (Brad) Barth of Isanti, Jane (David) Quale of Kerkhoven, Kay (Gary) Neumann of Grove Lake, Linda (Merlin) Schroeder of Glenwood, Trudy (Denny) Groen of Zimmerman, and Betty (Vernon) Schroeder of Brooten; 24 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Allan Vesledahl; two sons-in-law, Donald Hofmann and Lloyd Knutson; a granddaughter, Margo Hofmann; six brothers, John, Sam, Ed, Henry, Albert, and Arnold; two sisters, Hattie Terpstra and Sadie Zwart, as well as a sister in infancy.
