Morris J. Frederick

Morris J. Frederick, age 78 of Villard, died peacefully at home on January 18, 2018 under the care of Glacial Ridge Hospice. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 24th at Villard United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood and will continue on Wednesday at the church from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Inurnment will be in West Lake Amelia Cemetery in Villard. Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood.

Morris James Frederick, the son of Robert and Emma (Harvisto) Frederick, was born May 17, 1939 in Oakes, North Dakota. He attended school in Corral and graduated from Odesa High School. In November of 1956, Morris entered the United States Army. He served his country in the U.S. Military Police and was honorably discharged in March 1961.

On September 19, 1962, Morris was united in marriage to Carol Sanvig in Alexandria. The couple made their home in St. James for 15 years before moving to Villard in 1983. This marriage was blessed with eight children.

Morris was employed at Farmers Produce in Melrose, Gambles in St. James and Alexandria, Olson Engineering in St. James, Douglas Plating in Alexandria, and Felling Trailers in Sauk Centre.  He was a member of the Villard American Legion. Morris enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, reading westerns, and collecting die cast cars. He will be remembered for his stories about his childhood, military service, hunting and fishing. He loved spending time with each and every one of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, but most of all the love of his life, his wife, Carol.

Morris is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carol Frederick of Villard; sons: Adam (Cindy) Frederick of Forada, Bryan (Nicole) Frederick of Alexandria, and Paul Frederick of Villard; daughters: Hope (Steve) Schuett of Glenwood, Tammy Stradtman of Starbuck, Lisa Frederick of Villard, Jodi (Chad) Rademacher of Melrose, and Angel (Trevor) Nelson of Alexandria; 20 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sisters: Elaine Davis of Alexandria, Doris Olson of Willmar, Virginia (Roger) Randall of Aitken, Stella Melcher of Hillsboro, OR, and Roberta Rehnke of Solon, IA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Richard and Donald Frederick; and sister, Shirley Braebender.
