Family of Philip McMahon,
We lived next door to Philip in Glenwood for several years and always appreciated him as a good neighbor. We also had so much respect for his service in law enforcement in the county. We want to express our condolences to your entire family at this time of loss.

In reading the passing of your Father, for those of us who grew up in Glenwood and went into law enforcement Phil was one to be looked up to as mentor, friend and fellow Officer. His gift of dealing with people on the job and off was something he reminded me often never to forget which was to treat people "fairly" because you live in the community you serve. Even after he retired and out paths would cross I still cherished his words of advise and interest in my career

Phil and my dad (Con Urke) were dear friends and partners for many years. Lots of good laughs for all the pranks they played on each other and for the Irish/Norwegian jokes they taunted one another with. You are all in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

So sorry to hear this! My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you. Mr. McMahon sense of humor is what I remember most. He had fun picking on a little red headed girl and often used his sirens to make sure I could still jump! Hugs to the McMahon kids!!

I knew Phil best as Comissioner McMahon. He was a great advocate, seeking the best for Pope County residents. I was fortunate to have worked with him many years on public health issues and have fond memories of him. Regardless of age, it's difficult saying goodbye to a father. My sympathies are with you.

Sorry for your loss. Just a little story.
Office McMahon and I used to periodically pass each other near lake Reno as I regularly drove from Alex Vo-Tech to my job in Glenwood. One day he visited me at my work place where he said “I saw a little camaro going a little too fast the other day….” He knew I was a student and the lecture was a lot easier on my pocket book than a ticket. After that I’d occasionally still get a friendly flash of his patrol car’s cherries as I passed just to keep me on the straight and narrow. Officer Phil – your still my favorite cop.

Jim was one one of my teen hop running buddies. I remember one to many nights Phil through up his hands at us . Phil and Earl were always to be feared on the highway and Chuck Kettels in town. They all dealt out their discipline fairly like it or not. Phil stopped my husband Christmas Day heading back to Mpls he said your with a Flom girl and he nicely said slow down have a safe trip This is a warning. Jim and all your family my thoughts and prayers are with you on the loss of your dad Trooper McMahon

Phil and my dad, Earl, were partners for years. I have fun memories of his many stories, celebrating St. Patrick's Day much to dad's chagrin. He taught me to play Farkle when we sat together at Parkview. I'll miss him. My thoughts and prayers are with Mary, Jim, Mike, and Nancy...

My deepest sympathies on the loss of a great man. Many fond memories over the years, from his stopping by the farm in his patrol car just to visit with Dad when I was young to him razzing me when I'd visit Mom at GRV. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you!
