Timothy D. Claussen, age 64, of Glenwood, MN, died from a result of a stroke on Friday, May 26, 2017, at Glenwood Village Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, June 1^st, at Glenwood United Parish, with Rev. Laura Nordstrom officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the funeral home in Glenwood and will continue on Thursday at the church, one hour prior to the service. Interment will in Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements are with Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home of Glenwood.

Timothy David Claussen was born on January 3, 1953 in Trimont, MN to Merle “Chris” and Fern (Scheff) Claussen.  He grew up with two sisters, Bonnie and Barb.  His first six years of childhood were spent in Sherburn, MN.  In 1959, the family moved to a farm in rural Glenwood.  Tim graduated from Glenwood High School in 1971.  He attended two years at Alexandria Technical School, graduating from the Diesel Mechanics program in 1973.

Tim was employed for a short time with Jefferson Bus Lines in Minneapolis. In 1974, Tim started his employment with Schroeder Construction in Glenwood, where he was employed as a Diesel Mechanic for 40 years.  Tim was a quiet, hardworking man.  He would always help his Dad on the farm.  In 1995, Tim and his long-time companion, Nancy Zimmerman made their home on the family farm.  While still working at Schroeder’s, hobby-farming was once again part of his life and he was still actively farming after his retirement in 2015.

Tim was confirmed in the Christian Faith at the Glenwood Methodist Church. He enjoyed gardening, growing raspberries and strawberries for jam-making. He enjoyed going to family picnics at the Tjaden Cabin on Lake Amelia and also loved attending holiday get-togethers at the Iverson’s. He was a good cook and always brought food to share.

Tim is survived by his son, Blaize (Terri) Zimmerman of Thief River Falls, MN; three grandchildren, Cody, Jadi and Ashton; two sisters, Bonnie (Tim) Tjaden of Robbinsdale, MN and Barb (Bruce) Iverson of Glenwood and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and life-long companion, Nancy Zimmerman in 2016.
