Alice M. (Quitney) Olson

Alice M. Olson, age 80 of Glenwood, died Friday, June 1, 2018 at the Glenwood Retirement Village. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Glenwood Lutheran Church with Rev. Krista Lee officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be in the Glenwood Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood.

Alice Mae Olson, the daughter of Roy and Ruth (Swenson) Quitney was born April 27, 1938 in Lowry, Minnesota. She grew up on a farm near Lowry and attended St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and later became a member of Glenwood Lutheran Church. Alice attended school in Glenwood and graduated from Glenwood High School. 

In July of 1960, Alice was united in marriage to Jerry J. Olson in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lowry. They made their home in Glenwood. This marriage was blessed with three children.

Alice was employed at Glenwood State Bank for 25 years. She enjoyed sewing and walking. She especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. When Alice needed help with her daily care, she moved into the Glenwood Retirement Village. She passed away there on Friday, June 1, 2018.

She is survived by her sons: Jerry and Mark Olson, both of Glenwood; daughter, Lori Olson of Mission, TX; grandchildren: Jesse, Ashley and Cotey Olson; great-grandchildren, Maddisyn and Grayson; sisters: Ruth (Paul) McIver and Helen (Mel) Hoium; brothers: LeRoy (Marilyn) and Paul (Jane) Quitney; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Alice is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerry in 1969 and sisters, Janet Taft and Dorothy Smith; and brother, David Quitney.
