Dorothy A. (Caubarrus) Shomshor

Dorothy Alice Shomshor, the daughter of Alvin and Mabel (Fritz) Caubarrus was born March 26, 1928 in Antelope County, Nebraska. She grew up in Nebraska, where she attended school and graduated from high school.

On April 6, 1957, Dorothy was united in marriage to Malcolm Shomshor in Arndahl Lutheran Church. Following their marriage the couple farmed near Grove City, Minnesota.  Two years later they purchased a farm southeast of Villard, Minnesota. The couple continued to farm and live on the farm until, 1996 when they moved into the Glenview Apartments in Glenwood. They shared 52 years of marriage before Malcolm died on June 13, 2009. After Malcolm died Dorothy continued to live in her apartment until a week ago, when she moved into the Glenwood Retirement Village. She died there on May 19, 2019.

Dorothy was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Villard. Along with working on the farm, Dorothy was a loving homemaker, wife and mother. She enjoyed gardening and sewing.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Ronald (Shirley) Shomshor of St. Peter, MN; granddaughter, Anne Marie (Nick) Slaughter and great-grandson, Cairo; other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Malcolm; sister, Bertha and brother, Merritt Caubarrus.

A private family burial will be at the Lake Amelia Cemetery.
