Karen T. Floen, age 76 of Glenwood, died Thursday, July 26, 2018 at the Glenwood Retirement Village. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 31st at 10:00 A.M. at Living Word Lutheran Church in Alexandria. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be in Glenwood Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood.
Karen Theresa (Pudlick) Floen was born June 7, 1942 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Stephen and Eleanor (Selstad) Pudlick. She grew up in the Minneapolis area where she was baptized and attended school in North Minneapolis, Columbia Heights and St. Francis. After school, Karen began working in Minneapolis, where she met Laverne Floen. The couple was married March 26, 1961 in Glenwood, Minnesota. Karen and Laverne were blessed with two wonderful children, Brian and Stephanie. They made their home in Glenwood and joined Glenwood Lutheran Church where Karen was confirmed. Karen worked as a nurse’s aide at Lakeview Good Samaritan Center and later cleaned houses. In later years, Karen and Laverne joined the Living Word Lutheran Church in Alexandria where they enjoyed their church family. Karen especially loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She will be missed by all. God Bless her Memory.
Karen is survived by her husband of 57 years, Laverne Floen of Glenwood; son, Brian (Denise) Floen of Fallon, NV; daughter, Stephanie (Brian) Thompson of Kerkhoven, MN; 5 grandchildren: Shawna (Anthony) Allegrezza, Meghan (Aaron) Williams, Jamie (Dillon Timm) Floen, Randy (Andrew Rudder) Thompson and Katie (Dakota Flickinger) Thompson; 7 great-grandchildren; brother, Steve (Julie) Pudlick of Circle Pines; sister, Connie Woodard of Glenwood; brother-in-law, Dale (Andre) Floen of Silver Bay, MN, sister-in-law, Jeanette (Ron) Stoen of Lowry; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Patricia Gavin and Mary.
Memorial donations may be made to Glenwood Retirement Village or Living Word Lutheran Church in Alexandria.
