Kent F. Carrick, age 55, of rural Glenwood, died unexpectedly on Friday, November 9, 2018 at Glacial Ridge Hospital. A Memorial service celebrating Kent's life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, November 16th at the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood.
Kent Francis Carrick the son of Dean and Sandra (Determan) Carrick, was born July 16, 1963 in Browerville, Minnesota. He grew up in Burnsville, Minnesota where he graduated from Burnsville High School. After high school, Kent furthered his education at the Minneapolis Drafting School, the University of Minnesota Duluth, and the Evergreen State College in Washington. Kent was a true jack of all trades holding jobs as a drafter, welder, poker dealer and more. Most recently being certified as a first responder and volunteering for the Sedan Fire Department. He made his home in various cities in both Minnesota and Washington; most recently he made his home in rural Glenwood.
Over Kent’s lifetime he was a member of Ducks Unlimited, Delta Waterfowl, and Pheasants Forever. He had many hobbies including; hunting, fishing, farming, scuba diving, motorcycles, automotive restoration, collector and dog lover. Kent will be remembered for his friendly and outgoing personality and as someone who was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone.
Kent is survived by his mother, Sandra Carrick of New Market, MN; daughter, Amanda; sister, Kim (Kent) Carrick-Stewart of New Market, MN; brother, Greg (Jaime) Carrick of Wyoming, MN; nephews, Tristen and Brady; nieces, Hayley and Hannah; his beloved dog, Willie; other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dean Carrick, and his beloved dogs, Layla and Maggie.
