Lawrence "Larry" Wenzel Obituary

Lawrence D. “Larry” Wenzel, age 81 of Lowry, passed away at home under the care of hospice on Saturday, April 13, 2019. A Memorial Service celebrating Larry's life will take place at 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 27th at the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood, with visitation beginning at Noon and running until the time of service. Inurnment will be in the Reno Mission Cemetery in rural Lowry. Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood.

Lawrence Douglas Wenzel, the son of Dr. Glibert P. and Alice E. (Nimmer) Wenzel was born October 17, 1937 in St. Paul, Minnesota. He was raised in Roseville, Minnesota and attended the Roseville school system.

In the early 70’s Larry met the loved of his life, Nancy DeMun. Larry and Nancy married in 1972 and made their home in the metro area. The couple spent the next 39 years devoted to each other and the blended and extended family that included not only Larry's 2 daughters from a previous marriage, Pam and Linda, but over the years also grew to include daughters-in-law, significant others, grandchildren and eventually great grandchildren too.

Larry and Nancy were members of the Hazeltine National Golf Club where they enjoyed playing golf and made many close friends. After retirement, they moved to Lowry, Minnesota and built a home on Lake Reno where they could fish and be close to their little farm which was used for duck and bird hunting.

Larry is survived by his two daughters, Linda Wenzel of Eden Prairie, MN and Pam (Troy) Prinsen of Excelsior, MN; step-children, Norman DeMun of Germany, Steven (Teri) DeMun of Hailey, ID, Karen DeMun of Alexandria, MN, Robert (Terri) DeMun of Excelsior, MN, William DeMun of Bellvue, ID; grandchildren, Melissa Rushton, Luke Ramsey, Nancy DeMun, Neal DeMun, Georgia DeMun, Ryan (Sarah Adams) Prinsen, Tricia Prinsen, Morgan Prinsen, and Joseph (Marcia) Wenzel; great-grandchildren, Dillon and Parker Rushton, Carter and Sawyer Prinsen, Kailee and Ashlyn Wenzel and Nevaeh Prinsen; other relatives and many friends. 

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nancy in 2011; brother, Ronald Wenzel, sister-in-law, Laura Wenzel and step-grandchild, Nancy H. DeMun.
