Oran Wilberg, age 94, of rural Kensington, MN, died Sunday, July 17, 2017, at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Detroit Lakes, MN. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A. M. on Friday, July 21st, at Nora Lutheran Church, rural Kensington, with Pastor Janna Bader officiating. Visitation will be at the church, one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home of Glenwood.
Oran LeRoy Wilberg, the son of Henry and Inga (Larson) Wilberg was born April 23, 1923 in Kensington, Minnesota. He grew up on a farm near Kensington and attended Nora Lutheran Church. He attended Nora Township, District #70 country school and then Kensington High School where he graduated from in 1941.
Oran farmed in Nora Township for his whole life. He was united in marriage to Ella Amerson on March 14, 1953 at Cyrus Lutheran Church in Cyrus, Minnesota. They made their home on a farm in Nora Township. Oran and Ella shared 47 years of marriage before Ella passed away April 28, 2000. Oran was an active member to the American Bowling Association, the Amateur Radio Communication and was the past treasurer/clerk for Nora Township, an office he held for 35 years.
Oran will be remembered for his hard work, generosity and kindness. He had a definite loyalty and commitment to his family and friends.
He is survived by his son, Randall (Denise) Wilberg of Audubon, MN; daughter, Kimberly (Tom) Streater of Hopkins, MN; grandchildren: Anne, Cassidy, Dylan and John Streater, Kelsey, Randy Jr. and Brady Wilberg and Brian Wilberg; great-granddaughter Tali Jo Gilbertson; sister, LaVerne (Don) Olson of Hoffman, MN; sister-in-law, Betty Wilberg of Barrett; daughter-in-law, Donna Wilberg of Alexandria; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Oran is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ella; sons, Douglas and Lyndon Wilberg; brothers, Roy and Floyd Wilberg; sister, Marion Fahl; and brother-in-law, Harold Fahl.
