Phylis Akins Obituary

Phylis Akins, age 72 of Glenwood, died Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at the Glenwood Retirement Village. A memorial service will be held in the spring, Phylis’s favorite season.

Phylis Ellen Akins, the daughter of Emmry Akins and Freida (Mason) Akins was born on December 10, 1946 in Lyons, New York.

She will be remembered for her kind generous heart and amazing zest for life. She was a loving Mom, Grandmother, and friend. She will be missed.

She is survived by her daughters, Freida (Ray) Montgomery of Glenwood, Lisa (Pete) Barker of Carlos, and Shannon (John) Barker of Villard; son, Thomas (Melissa) Garrad of Minot North Dakota; grandchildren: Freida Lynn, Phillip Jr, Felicia, Brenda, Victoria, Jaden, Thomas, Joshua, Brittany, Kaycee, Kelly, Greg, James, and Cody, William, Briana, Allison, and Tyler; sister, Lynda Blake; brothers, Gary Aikins, George Akins, and Thomas Akins; twenty-one great grandchildren and 17 nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Carolyn and Elaine; and grandson, Jeremy Barker.
