Thomas H. Boerboom, age 60 of Villard, son of Harold and Patricia (McKay) Boerboom, died peacefully, Saturday, September 28, 2019 surrounded by family.
Tom was born June 22, 1959 in Marshall, Minnesota. He grew up in Minneapolis where he and his family were members of Annunciation Catholic Church. He attended school at Kenney and Susan B. Anthony and graduated from Jefferson High School in Bloomington.
On November 10, 1979, Tom was united in marriage to Colleen Posey at Zion Lutheran Church in Garretson, South Dakota. They made their home in Richfield, Minnesota where they raised their two sons, Ryan and Jason, and were members of St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Tom was an active member of the Richfield Jaycees in the early 80s. Tom and Colleen continued to reside in Richfield for 35 years before moving to Lake Amelia in Villard, where they became members of St. Bartholomew’s and Sacred Heart in Glenwood. Tom worked in the family business, HJ Boerboom & Associates, where he was a salesman of candles and religious goods for over 43 years.
Tom enjoyed golfing, woodworking, waterskiing, sailing, hockey and travel. He especially loved spending time with his wife, sons, and their families. In 2016, Tom and Colleen started spending winters in Florida, working diligently on their golf games, and enjoying warmer winters. Their home in Ave Maria is a special place where they made many new friends, Tom joined the Knights of Columbus, and they both became involved in the local Catholic church community.
Tom is survived by his wife, Colleen Boerboom of Villard; sons: Ryan (Jessica) of Bloomington, and Jason (Kathryn) of Richfield; grandchildren: Joe, Sam, Mary, William, Lucy, Ella and Hannah; sisters: Kathy (Mark) Low and Deb (Greg) Solum; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Pam (Steve) Gligor and Patty (Grant) Torfin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am Monday, October 7, 2019 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glenwood, MN. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Villard. Memorials preferred to the Muscular Dystrophy Association MN/Dakotas; memo: Tom Boerboom.
