William “Bill” Joseph Fiala, received the beautiful gift of eternal life, with his loving family at his side, Friday June 15, 2018 at the St. Cloud Hospital, having lived to reach the age of 58 years, 4 months and 3 days. His life will be celebrated beginning with a visitation on Thursday, June 21 from 5:00-7:00 at Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood followed by Mass of Christian Burial Friday, June 22ndat 11:00 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glenwood with visitation one hour prior.
William “Bill” Joseph Fiala, son of Leo and Ethelle (Gehlhar) Fiala, was born February 12, 1960 in Glenwood, MN. Bill attended Glenwood High School while also learning the agricultural trade assisting his parents on the family farm. Around the age of 18, Bill accepted employment at GMC, now TC/American Crane Company, where he worked the majority of his life, until chronic injury resulted in his recent retirement. Everyone that knew and worked with Bill would say that, while he was very skilled and valued at work, farming was his passion. He loved the day, each year, when the snow would melt and the frost would leave as it meant another year of life on the farm had begun. Nothing gave him more pleasure then being behind the wheel of a tractor assisting his brother, David, in what was a life long partnership of producing beautiful fields of wheat, corn and beans that they looked forward to harvesting each Fall. In addition to crops, Bill also loved his time assisting David with the cattle operation. His hard work and dedication to the family farms will be greatly missed, but the fruits of his labor and his memory will be cherished as his handprints remain on every building, tractor, and piece of equipment he dedicated his life to keeping in operating order. Another one of Bill’s passions was helping others. Whether it was fixing a car, a piece of equipment, or his 10 years of dedicated service to Sedan Fire and Rescue, Bill was always there when needed. Always accompanying Bill in his journey of life were his many furry friends. Bill had a real love for all animals, especially his many dogs through the years.
In 1988, Bill was united in marriage to Kimberly Jacobson at Morning Glory Gardens in Glenwood, MN. The couple spent several years in Sedan before returning to live in Glenwood, near the family farm. Out of the union, came the adoption of their two children, Amanda and Thiago.
Left to cherish Bills memory are his children, Amanda Fiala of Warner Robins, GA and Thiago Fiala of El Paso, TX, Sisters, Rose (Jerry Sr.) Searcy of Waite Park, MN, Bonnie Simenson of Waite Park, MN, Peggy Alexander of Tomah, WI and Laurie Fiala of Glenwood, MN, Brother David Fiala of Glenwood, MN. Joining his children and siblings in cherishing Bill’s memory are several nieces and nephews, as well as his grandchildren, Kingston, Kalina, Carter and Eli.
Welcoming Bill into eternal life are his loved one’s that preceded him, his parents, Brothers, Roger Fiala and Gary Fiala, brother-in-law Jerry Simenson, sister-in-law Sharon Fiala, and niece, Theresa Searcy-Hemmesch.
