Obituary

Albert Wheeler, age 63 of Aliso Viejo, California, died Saturday, June 25, 2016 in California.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 2 nd at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grove Lake with Pastor Philip Beyersdorf officiating.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.  Interment will be in Grove Lake Cemetery.  Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood.

Albert Lenear Wheeler Jr., the son of Albert Lenear Wheeler Sr. and Sue Carolyn Cranfill was born on November 28, 1952 in Orlando, Florida. He was also known by many as "Lyn" or "Al". He grew up in Orlando & St Petersburg, Florida and Atlanta, Georgia. Lyn graduated from Boca Ciega High School, St Petersburg in 1970. After attending courses at St Petersburg Junior College, Lyn received his draft notice into the U.S. military during the Vietnam War; he was dismissed prior to serving due to the conclusion of the war. Following the draft, Lyn began working for Publix grocery stores.

Lyn and June were united in marriage on February 4, 1978 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grove Lake, Minnesota. They were married for 38 years and were blessed with three sons.

During their marriage, Lyn spent time working at National Linen Service in Florida & Alabama, Aid Association for Lutherans (AAL) and Precision Packaging in Ohio, and became a certified HVAC repair specialist with Alicia Air in California, where he worked until 2012.  In January of 2014, Lyn opened "Grandpa's Daycare" and began caring for his grandson Landon, who affectionately referred to him as his "Pops". The special bond formed between Pops and Landon will always be remembered.

Lyn and the family made their home in Aliso Viejo, California since 2001. He previously lived in Ohio, Florida, Alabama and Minnesota.

Lyn was an avid fisherman and one of his favorite places to be was out on a lake. He enjoyed camping, casino trips, coin collecting, country music, and watching Angel's baseball. Lyn was very much a handyman and thrived in any environment where he got to work with his hands. He will always be remembered for how much he loved spending time with his family; which included going on road trips, finding something new to cook, or being completely invested and supportive of anything that his sons were involved in.

Lyn is survived by his wife: June Wheeler of Aliso Viejo, California; children: Justin (Megan) Wheeler of Kettering, Ohio, Ryan Wheeler of Issaquah, Washington, and Nathaniel (Taylor) Wheeler of Aliso Viejo, California; grandson: Landon Wheeler; father: Albert Wheeler Sr. of Houston, Texas; sisters: Nancy (Bob) Fritter of Houston, Texas and Wendy Scott of Shelbyville, Kentucky; half-sister: LaRee (Charles) Lowery of Biloxi, Mississippi.

Lyn is preceded in death by his mother.
