Obituary

Alpha G. Finden, age 102 of Glenwood, died Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at the Glenwood Retirement Village.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 26 th at All Saint's Chapel in the Glenwood Retirement Village with Pastor Bonnie Lomen officiating.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.  Burial will be in the Glenwood Lutheran Cemetery.   Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood.

Alpha Geneve Finden, the daughter of Emil and Inga (Skare) Erickson was born August 28, 1914 in Rolling Forks Township, Pope County, Minnesota.  She grew up on a farm in rural Pope County and attended school in Glenwood.  She graduated from Glenwood High School then furthered her education at Normal Training after which she taught school in Glenwood.  Alpha was a lifetime member of Glenwood Lutheran Church.

On July 14, 1936, Alpha was united in marriage to Ralph Finden. The couple made their home in Glenwood and were blessed with one son, Paul.  Alpha and Ralph owned and operated Finden Cleaners in Glenwood for over 40 years.  They shared 46 years of marriage until Ralph died on May 26, 1983.  Alpha resided in their home in Glenwood for 65 years before moving into the Glenwood Villa when she turned 90.  She enjoyed living at the Villa where she had many friends who she enjoyed playing cards with.  Alpha was able to live independently until 2014 when she moved into the Glenwood Retirement Village.  She passed away there on May 23, 2017.

When Alpha was younger she enjoyed bowling and held the record for the highest score at the Glenwood Bowling Alley. Alpha will be remembered for her calm and kind personality and fastidious nature.

Alpha is survived by her son, Paul (Gail) Finden of San Clemente, CA; grandchildren: Jill (Mike McMahon) Finden, Julie (Shon) Anderson and Steven (Elizabeth) Finden; 7 great-grandchildren; brother, Ronald (Linda) Erickson of St. Louis Park; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her, parents; husband, Ralph Finden, brothers: Leighton, Ralph and Charles Erickson; sisters: Adele Swanson and Wanda Keithly.
