Amy Iverson, age 90 of Willmar, died August 11, 2026 at Copperleaf Long Term Care Center in Willmar. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 11, 2026 at Scandia Lutheran Church in rural Glenwood with Rev. Ron Knutson officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 -11:00 a.m. at the church. Inurnment will take place at Rolling Forks Cemetery in rural Glenwood. Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood.

Amy Darlene Iverson was born on April 9, 1936, in Starbuck, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Alfred and Ruth (Carlson) Carlson. She grew up in Rolling Forks Township, Pope County, Minnesota. Amy was baptized on May 20, 1936, and confirmed in May 1947, both at Benson Free Church. After attending grade school at District 38 country school, Amy began 9th grade at Benson High School and graduated in 1954. That summer, she worked diligently on her family’s farm, helping her parents with chores and actively participating in 4H with projects spanning sewing, baking, canning, and gardening. That fall, Amy furthered her education at the College of Medical Technology. She graduated in 1956 with a degree in Laboratory and X-ray technology. Her professional life was a testament to her dedication to helping others. Amy began her career in Aitkin, Minnesota, working at the local hospital. She went on to hold positions in Minneapolis, finding employment at several places, including Cargill Inc. She contributed her skills at medical offices in Glenwood, Starbuck, and for Dr. Bucher and Dr. Zemple, as well as at the Starbuck Hospital.

When Amy moved to Benson, she worked at the Swift County Benson Hospital until 1979. She then transitioned to clerical work at Partsmaker in Glenwood. When that closed in 1981, she returned to the Benson hospital, working part time in the x-ray department. In 1990, Amy accepted a full-time position at the Appleton Hospital, where she remained until her retirement in 1998.

On March 30, 1957, she was united in marriage to Torger Jerome Bagstad in Mason City, Iowa. Together, they were blessed with four children: Wayne, Jody, Jenell, and Vaughn. Their family home was first in Starbuck, where they lived from 1959 to 1969, before moving to Benson and, eventually, to a beloved lake home on Lake Gilchrist in 1979. Amy and Torger were active members of several area churches, including Rolling Forks Lutheran Church, Fron Lutheran Church in Starbuck, Our Redeemers Church in Benson, and Scandia Lutheran Church in rural Glenwood.

After Torger’s passing in 1998, Amy sought solace and fulfillment in spending extended time with family. She cherished a special visit to her sister in Houston, Texas, and enjoyed pursuits such as quilting, church volunteer work, and spending as much time as she could with her grandchildren.

In October 2001, Amy married Richard Iverson. Together, Amy and Richard built new memories through travel and shared adventure. Their travels took them to family in Wisconsin, Texas, and Iowa, as well as trips to Branson, Missouri; Las Cruces, New Mexico; and winters spent in Arizona. These years were filled with joy, connection, and a continued appreciation for family and the simple pleasures of country living. After Richard died February 13, 2024, Amy remained in the country for a year before moving to an apartment in Glenwood for a short time. When she needed more help with her daily care she moved into the Copperleaf Care Center in Willmar. She died there on Tuesday, August 11, 2026.

Amy is survived by her children, Wayne Bagstad, Jody (Neal) Adler, Jenell (Scott) Mitteness, Vaughn (Kristy) Bagstad; step-daughter Ilona (Derrick) Fouks; her grandchildren Stephanie (Chad) Jewel, Jim Mitteness, Justin (Kali) Mitteness, Eric (Lindsey) Mortenson, Kristy Nystrom, Kayla (Tyler) Bloome, Judd Bagstad, Aaron Bagstad, Ally (Adam) Stein, Jessica (Cedric) Lara, Brandon (Bekah) Fouks, Nathan (Samantha) Fouks, and Cameron Fouks; 24 great-grandchildren; her brother, David (Barb) Carlson; sister, Judy Dowty; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Amy is preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Ruth Carlson; her husbands Torger Bagstad and Richard Iverson; her brother Arlen Carlson; her sister-in-law Elizabeth Carlson; her brother-in-law Earl Dowty; and her son Wayne’s special friend, Gwen Robinson.
