Ariel C. Peterson, age 93, of Glenwood, MN, died Monday, August 4, 2014, at Glenwood Retirement Village.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday at the funeral home in Glenwood, with visitation one hour prior at the funeral home.  Inurnment will be at a later date.  Arrangements are with Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home of Glenwood. Ariel Clarice Steen, the daughter of Rueben and Ella (Rudell) Peterson was born April 15, 1921 in Boyd, Minnesota.  She grew up on a farm near Boyd.  Ariel was employed doing defense work during WWII in Minneapolis, MN and San Diego, CA. On July 25, 1946 Ariel was united in marriage to Fred Steen at Fron Lutheran Church in Starbuck.  This marriage was blessed with eight children.  Ariel and Fred made their home in the Glenwood area.  Ariel was a dedicated homemaker and mother for the next thirty-nine years.  Fred passed away in 1981, and in 1985, Ariel moved to the twin cities where she was employed as a nanny.  She retired in 1991 and moved back to Glenwood in 2002. Ariel enjoyed baking, embroidery, music, reading, and spending time with her family. She is survived by her children: Brad (Lori) Steen of St. Paul, MN, Darrel (Brenda) Steen of Brooten, MN, Keven (Julie) Steen of St. Louis Park, MN, Keith (Carroll) Steen of Hillsboro, OR, Wanda (Bruce) Swenson of St. Cloud, Diane Stai of Austin, TX, Jill Greeley of Glenwood, and Jody (Dennis) Schacher of Glenwood, MN; 19 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; sister Lorinne Mikelson of Eden Prairie, MN; brother, Dale  Peterson of Montevideo, MN; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Ariel was preceded in death by her parents, husband Fred, and brother, Gailen.
