Brian "Popeye" Dean Simonson was born on January 19, 1966 in Wanamingo, MN. He was the fifth of seven children born to Orville W. and Helen (Simon) Simonson. When he was nine years old, his family moved to Orville's hometown of Sedan, MN where they helped Orville's parents operate the family salvage business. In 1996, Brian completed the Truck Driving program at Alexandria Technical College. For the past several years he worked as an over-the-road truck driver for Farmers Elevator in Kensington.
