Celesta Doege, age 90 of Glenwood, died Thursday, April 24, 2014 at the Glenwood Retirement Village. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 26th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glenwood with Father Michael Wolfbauer officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Glenwood. Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood.
Celesta Mary Doege was born March 25, 1924 in Jamestown, North Dakota to Felix and Lucille (Schwartz) Blaskowski. Celesta began grade school in Jamestown and when the family moved to Brainerd, she completed grade school and junior high there. Celesta's family moved to a farm near the Sedan area where Celesta graduated from Glenwood High School in 1943. Upon graduation, Celesta worked in Glenwood for awhile and then went to work in Minneapolis and St. Paul. She worked with the Internal Revenue Service in St. Paul and later in Phoenix, AZ, Boulder, CO and Kansas City, KS. She was employed with the IRS for 25 years.
On August 30, 1964, Celesta was united in marriage to Albert Doege in Boulder, CO. The couple made their home in Tongonoxie, KS, where Albert had his farm. Celesta and Albert did lots of traveling. They made several trips to Europe, China, the Soviet Union, Australia and New Zealand. They were both very active in agricultural issues and enjoyed learning how other countries farmed. Celesta was also very active in church activities in Tongonoxie. Celesta and Albert shared 45 years of marriage before Albert passed away March 21, 2010. After Albert passed away she moved back to Glenwood to be close to her family.
Celesta is survived by her sister, Eleanor Berggren of Glenwood; brother, Felix (Mercida) Blaskowski of Glenwood; sisters-in-law, Betty Blaskowski of Kensington and JoAnn Blaskowski of Sauk Centre and many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Albert; sisters, Rosanne Blaskowski and Patricia (Alvin) Huerkamp; brothers, Stanley (Lillian), Alfred and Jerome Blaskowski and brother-in-law, Gust Berggren.
