Chad G. Ballandby, age 58 of Glenwood and Colorado, died Sunday, August 2, 2026 at home in Glenwood. Visitation will be on Saturday, August 8th from 1:00-2:00 p.m. with a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood with Rev. Krista Lee officiating. Interment will be in the Glenwood Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood.

Chad Grayson Ballandby was born on January 24, 1968, in Albert Lea, Minnesota, to Glen and Ruth Ann (Overgaard) Ballandby. Chad was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Albert Lea, and his Christian faith remained an important part of his life. He graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1986 and later attended Mankato State.

On September 28, 1991, Chad was united in marriage to Jodi Gandrud at Calvary Lutheran Church in Golden Valley, Minnesota. Their marriage was blessed with two sons, Joseph and Derek, who were the great joys of his life. Chad loved his family deeply and his greatest joy was being a devoted husband and incredible father.

Chad was employed as a Nationwide Investment Advisor, where he was known for his professionalism, integrity, and the trust he earned from those he served. Chad split his time between Colorado and the family farm south of Glenwood, and both places held special meaning for him. He loved the family farm and the peace and purpose it brought him. He also loved Colorado and the outdoors, where he found joy in the beauty of nature and the simple pleasures of life. He was an incredible woodworker and craftsman, and he took pride in creating with his hands. He especially enjoyed hosting hunters on the farm and sharing the hospitality and fellowship. Those who knew Chad will remember him as loving, funny, and generous. He had a contagious smile and laugh, along with dimples that reflected the warmth he carried so easily. He was thoughtful, friendly, fun to be with, and selfless in the way he cared for others. His sense of humor and his kind heart made him a blessing to his family and to all who had the privilege of knowing him. Chad will be remembered for the love he had for his boys, his devotion to the family farm, and his appreciation for the outdoors and the life he built with those he loved.

Chad is survived by his sons, Joseph Ballandby of Colorado and Derek Ballandby of Oregon; his sisters, Julie (Dave) Mumaugh, Lisa Medd, Sandra (Tim) Hassing, Sheila (Alan) Helgerson, and Heidi (Myron) Lewis; sisters-in-law, Jill (Mark) Peterson and Janis (Glenn) Lickness; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bob and Nancy Gandrud; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jodi Ballandby; his parents, Glen and Ruth; his grandparents, Ole and Mable Ballandby and Peter and Alice Overgaard; his brother and sister-in-law, Randee and Kim Ballandby; his brother-in-law, Daniel Medd; his nieces and nephews, Joshua, Katie, Wyatt Medd, and Jeni Helgerson; and his beloved dog, Snickers.
