Chester R. Kinzler, age 86 of Brooten, died Sunday, January 5, 2013 at the Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, January 11th at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brooten. Visitation will be at the church, one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Brooten. Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Brooten.
Chester Roy Kinzler, the son of Fred Henry and Anna (Thorbjornson) Kinzler was born April 3, 1927 in New Rockford, North Dakota. He grew up on a farm near Bradford, North Dakota. He attended school at Foster County Public School in Carrington, North Dakota. Chester served his country in the United States Army from 1950 – 1953.
On November 8, 1952 Chester was united in marriage to Marjorie Ehn in Marelund Lutheran Church in Pennock, Minnesota. The couple made their home in Grand Rapids, Minnesota for seven years, before moving to Brooten. Chester was a self-employed mechanic in Brooten for over 45 years. He was known locally as someone who could fix anything. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and loved his pets and nature.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marjorie Kinzler of Brooten; his son, Richard (Verna) Kinzler of Snow Hill, North Carolina; daughters, Barbara (Arthur) Quade, Kathryn (Pete) Hansen, and Heidi Kinzler all of Brooten; grandchildren: Christopher, Jason, Ryan, Nichole, Anna, Dane, Eric, April, Shane, Dillon, Cody and Traverse; 14 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Chester was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Robert Kinzler; a sister Myrtle Greger; and a brother, Norman "Bud" Kinzler.
