Clarence N. Alsaker, age 86 of Glenwood, died Sunday, September 28, 2014 at the Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood. Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, October 4th at Chippewa Falls Lutheran Church in Terrace. Visitation will be from 11:00 until the time of the service at the church. Interment will be in the Chippewa Falls Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood.
Clarence Norman Alsaker, son of Ingvald Jacob Alsaker and Marie (Flaskerud) Alsaker, was born on September 26, 1928 in Hamberg, North Dakota. He grew up on a farm in Oberon, North Dakota and later moved to Glenwood, Minnesota.
He was united in marriage on May 3, 1947 to Shirley Jeanette Brown of Glenwood, Minnesota. Their marriage was blessed with 9 children. He retired from Glendenning Motorways in Roseville, Minnesota at the age of 55. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, Norwegian horseshoes, casino trips, a love of guitar, fiddle and accordion music, as well as spending time with family and friends. He had the ability to create or fix almost anything and he truly lived his belief that "It is Better to Give Than to Receive".
He is survived by his children LaVonne Pederson of Coon Rapids, Charlene (Regan) Feigum-Swedeen of Glenwood, Diane Hinzey of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Sandra (Robert) Hughs of Tampa, FL, Gordon Alsaker of Glenwood, Wanda Vickstrom of Blaine, Barbara Kindseth of East Bethel, MN, Gregory (Cindy) Alsaker of Isanti, MN, and Cindy (Mark) Soderquist of Cedar, MN, 29 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife Shirley, 8 brothers and 4 sisters.
