Clarice G. Smith, age 94, of Glenwood, MN, died Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at Glenwood Village Care Center.  Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, March 3rd, at All Saint's Chapel, with Rev. Ginger Beck officiating.  Visitation will be from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M. on Sunday at the funeral home in Glenwood and on Monday at the church, one hour prior to the service.  Burial will in the Glenwood Cemetery in the spring.  Arrangements are with Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home of Glenwood. Clarice Gertrude Gunderson, daughter of Edwin and Cora (Moe) Gunderson, was born on December 2, 1919, in Kensington, MN.  She grew up near Kensington, attending country school and Solem Lutheran Church.  As a young woman she waited tables at a café in Glenwood, MN.  She met her husband, Calvin D. Smith, at the Osterberg Café in Alexandria.  The two were united in marriage on June 15, 1942.  Clarice earned her GED after the two wed and their marriage was blessed with three children, Jim, Dan and Gerri. Following their marriage, Clarice and Cal made their home in Lowry and Glenwood and then at various military posts during WWII.  At the conclusion of Cal's military service, the family made their home in Lowry, where Cal was involved in the lumber business.  Over the years Clarice sold Avon products and worked at the Glenwear stores in both Glenwood and Alexandria.  After their retirement the pair settled in Glenwood.  Cal passed away on December 13, 2005, and Clarice was most recently resided at Parkview Court in Glenwood. In her free time Clarice loved to read, golf, go bowling, play bridge, whist or any other game that would get the family or friends around the table.  She will be remembered for her easy laugh, her unending energy and work ethic which helped provide for her family, her impeccable appearance and oh my . . . her cooking! Clarice is survived by her sons, Jim (D.J.) Smith of St. Michael, MN, Dan (Bonnie) Smith of Horace, ND; her daughter, Gerri (Kim) Selvog of Glenwood, MN; as well as grandchildren, Karen Smith, Tracey (Jamie) Smith, Jason (Kathy) Selvog and Tehar (Jason) Ramert; and great grandchildren, Alora Smith, Jakob Thompson, Trent Ramert, Torri Ramert, Alexia McKay and Covy Selvog. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Calvin Smith; her 3 brothers, Archie, Roy and Erwin; and 5 sisters, Rosella Johnson, Irene Dingwall, Deloris Brush, Gloria Hollenbeck, and Pearl Jeanette Joranger.
