Dale started working at the post office in high school as a delivery boy and worked his way up to postal clerk. He also worked odd jobs, moving people and helping with auctions. He worked as the postal clerk in Glenwood for 37 years until he retired in 1992.

On July 16, 1960, Dale was united in marriage to Ruth J. Zinda at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Holloway, Minnesota. Dale and Ruth made their home on the edge of Glenwood for 50 years. After his retirement, Dale and Ruth wintered in Texas for 22 years. He also loved traveling and camping with Ruth, friends and family. He enjoyed watching westerns, including Gun Smoke and anything with John Wayne. He had a deep interest in the stock market and also enjoyed playing horseshoes, shuffleboard, Sudoku puzzles, cards, cribbage and bingo. Dale will be remembered as a great collector: including beer cans, stamps, coins and many other various items and his love of visiting with everyone.
