Darlene Bergquist, age 79 of Glenwood, died Saturday, November 29, 2013 at the Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood.  Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, December 3rd at the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood.  Visitation will be from noon until the time of the service at the funeral home.  Interment will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Lowry.  Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood. Darlene Adeline Bergquist the daughter of Walter and Tena (Meyer) Pischke was born October 12, 1934 on a farm near Echo, Minnesota.  She grew up on the farm and attended country school near Echo. On May 18, 1952, Darlene was united in marriage to Vernon Bergquist.  This marriage was blessed with eight children.  Darlene and Vernon made their home in Echo before moving to Lowry in 1957.  They shared 45 years of marriage before Vernon passed away April 29, 1998. After moving to Lowry, Darlene furthered her education at Alexandria Technical College becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).  She worked for over twenty years as a nurse at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck.  She enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, crocheting, knitting, painting was an avid collector and amazing baker.  She excelled at everything she did.  She will be remembered as a very hard worker, a wonderful nurse, a loving grandmother, who adored babies, and most of all a beloved mother to her children.  Darlene passed away November 29, 2013 at the Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood. Darlene is survived by her son: Jim (Jodene) Bergquist of Brooten, MN; daughters: Sherri (Andy) Jennings of Denton, TX, Kathy (Mark) Jennings of St. Louis, MO, Cindy (Phil) Johnshoy of Starbuck, MN, Becky (John) Oeltjen of Glenwood, Peggy (Steve) Leedahl of Glenwood, and Gail Bergquist of St. Louis, MO; grandchildren: Troy, Trent, Tricia and Kayla Pederson, Jenna, Shari Jo and Tena Johnshoy, Aaron, Kara and Michelle Leedahl, Joel, Matt and Jamie Jennings, Heather, Michael and Stephen Jennings, Jaden, KaSandra, Kolten and Jaya Bergquist; great-grandchildren: Jordan, Austin, Mariah, Dylan, Taylor, Christian, Isaac, Brock, Logan, Brady, Cooper, Bailey, Brianna, Adrienne, Peyten and Hunter; sisters, Donna (David) Schuett of Glenwood and Jean Pischke of Lowry; brothers, Marvin Pischke of Lowry and Arden (Donna) Pischke of Onamia, MN; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vernon Bergquist; an infant son, Johnny Bergquist; brothers, Walter and Melborne Pischke; sister, Ardayne Lehtola and most recently her first grandson, Trevor Pederson.
