David “Dave” Moe, age 73 of Glenwood, died Sunday, August 2, 2026 at North Ridge Health and Rehab in New Hope, Minnesota. A Memorial Service Celebrating Dave’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 10th at Glenwood City Park Bandshell with Pastor Krista Lee officiating. Please bring a lawn chair to enjoy church in the park like Dave always used to. An informal visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday at Lakeside Ballroom in Glenwood. The family encourages everyone to wear Minnewaska Laker gear to the visitation in honor of Mr. Moe and to bring a photo or photos to be added to a poster board display. Visitation will also continue from 10-11 a.m. at City Park on Monday. Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood.

Memorials may be directed to the Pope County Humane Society, 17584 195th Avenue, Glenwood, MN 56334, in memory of Dave's love for animals.

David John Moe was born on March 17, 1953, in Starbuck, MN, to Dorothy Finstad and Gordon Moe. The second of three children, he grew up on a farm near Starbuck. He was baptized and confirmed at Indherred Lutheran Church and later joined Glenwood Lutheran Church, where he enjoyed lakeside sermons from his lawn chair.

Dave graduated from Glenwood High School in 1971. He pursued many interests, working for the Soo Line railroad, making waterbeds, mowing lawns, doing carpentry, and delivering the Star Tribune until he decided to “park the van” in January. David earned an elementary education degree from the University of Minnesota, Morris, leading to his cherished 34-year career as a teacher and coach in the Minnewaska school district.

David married LuAnne Doughty, and they had five daughters. They later divorced, and in May of 2006, David and Tammy were married at Mt. Lookout in Glenwood. They celebrated 20 years this past May!

David will be remembered in our hearts for MANY reasons. As a teacher and coach, he was loved and respected for the genuine care he showed each student and player. He encouraged success in the classroom, on the field, and on the court, especially through girls’ volleyball, softball, and basketball, where he LOVED the spirit of competition!

David was VERY active in the community, attending local celebrations and school events, especially his favorite Minnewaska Christmas concerts. An animal lover with a kind, generous soul, he volunteered for years at the Pope County Humane Society, helping dogs and cats feel safe and loved. The shaved ice truck also became a big part of the community, so Dave and Tammy’s summers continued to brighten the days (and lips!) of children of ALL ages!

David loved life, especially travel. Dave and Tammy first visited St. Maarten in 2007 and returned 17 more times. He also loved the North Shore, where family camping trips to Grand Marais became a treasured summer tradition for more than 20 years.

David is survived by his wife Tammy, four daughters: Marisa (Craig) Schneider, Nicholette (Chris) Hanson, Alison (Jordan) Ranum, and Kate (Jonny) Jacobsen. He has three stepchildren: Alyssa, Lindsay, and Riley. David has been blessed with 13 grandchildren: Edda, Zachary, Owen, Tate, Keeley, Callen, Charlotte (Charlie), Matthew, Lucy, Henry, Mae, Hendrick, and Evelyn. He will also be missed by his sister, Ruth (Dorothy), and his brother, Dan and his buddy Oskar.

David is preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Dorothy, and daughter Leah Christine.

Recently, Dave and Tammy were reflecting on the past year after the transplant. The list of the past year’s memories was long…daily dog walks, listening to live music, camping, Christmas at home with family, a road trip to California, St. Maarten, and many sunrises and sunsets over Lake Minnewaska.
