David "Dave" Tauber, Sr. age 61 of Villard, died Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at the Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glenwood with Father Joe Vandeberg officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Glenwood and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Villard. Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood.
David Paul Tauber, the son of Paul and Agatha (Christman) Tauber was born on May 11, 1954, in Glenwood, MN. He grew up on a farm north of Glenwood. He graduated from Glenwood High School in 1972 and went on to earn a degree in diesel mechanic from Alexandria Technical College in 1974.
He was united in marriage to Katherine Eblen on October 9, 1982 at Saint Bartholomew Catholic Church. They made their home in Villard and moved to their current farm in 1992. He farmed his entire life and was also employed at Hustads/CAS for 30 years and most recently at Villard Implement. He was a member of the Villard Fire Department for 34 years. His hobbies were hunting, fishing, attending auctions, gardening and coffee with friends.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Kathy Tauber; his daughters: Tiffaney (Matthew) Hammer of White Bear Lake, Mandy (Kyle) Kaatz of Glenwood and son, David Tauber, Jr. of Villard; grandchildren, Jude Kaatz and Mikael Hammer; mother, Agatha Tauber; brothers: Daniel (Joann) Tauber of Villard and Timothy Tauber of Glenwood; sisters: Patricia (Todd) Mikkelson of Willmar and Mary Tauber (Michael Linehan) of Brookings, SD.
He is preceded in death by his father, Paul Tauber; his brother, Tommy and his grandparents.
