Donald Roger Robideaux, son of John M. and Iris F. (Walburn) Robideaux, was born on February 10, 1938, in Glenwood, MN. He grew up, along with his three brothers and two sisters, on the family farm north of Villard. He attended Villard Public School and graduated with the class of 1956. On June 14, 1958, he was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart and classmate, Evelyn Walther, at St. John's Lutheran in Villard. The two made their home on a farm near Villard and their marriage was blessed with four children.
Donald worked at the Villard Creamery and farmed for twenty years. In 1982, he took a job with Villard Ag Service where he remained until health issues forced his retirement. Thereafter he worked part-time for several years driving a school van for Minnewaska Area Schools.
Donald and Evelyn eventually left the farm and built a house near Lake Amelia, where his lawn and flower garden became his new "crops". In 2012, the two moved to Parkview Court. Evelyn passed away in December of 2015 and Donald continued to reside there until his death on Saturday, November 5, 2016, at the age of 78.
Donald was a lifelong member of Villard United Methodist Church. He was a proud family man and very dedicated to them and his wife. He enjoyed coaching and watching his children and grandchildren in their sporting events. He will be greatly missed. Blessed be his memory.
Donald is survived by a son, Mark (Barbara), of Brainerd; three daughters, Julie (Doug Brackin) Robideaux of Forada, Joann (Dan) Tauber of Villard, Nancy (Rob) Ahlfors of Villard, and an adopted son, Steven David Robideaux of St. Paul; 13 grandchildren, Stacy, Gerald, Kenneth, and Brenden Springer, Jacob, Luke and Jamie Robideaux, Molly Koop, Kelly Humphry, Sara (Philip) Goellner, Allan Ahlfors, Melissa (Justin Doll) Oeltjen, and Brandy Robideaux; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Phyllis Griffith of Buffalo and Audrey (Roger) Helberg of Hoffman; two brothers, DeWayne (Dot) of Pensacola, FL, and Ronald (Anita) of Villard; sister-in-law, Connie Robideaux; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
