Donna M. Knutson, age 91 of Glenwood, died Saturday, October 18  2014 at the Glenwood Retirement Village in Glenwood.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, October 23rd at Chippewa Falls Lutheran Church in Terrace with Pastor Kathy Hartley officiating.  Visitation will be on Wednesday, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.  Interment will be in the Chippewa Falls Lutheran Cemetery.  Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood. Donna was born on July 6, 1923, to Sam and Tillie(Hendrickson) Paulson in Crow Lake Township, in Belgrade, Minnesota.  She was baptized and confirmed at Crow Lake Lutheran Church.  She graduated from Belgrade High School in 1940. Donna married LeRoy Knutson on Nov. 3, 1943, and they began farming north of Terrace in 1949. She was a partner in the operation of their farm with the ability to fix almost anything.  She liked working with numbers and keeping detailed farm records.  Donna also enjoyed many activities which include  crocheting, knitting, quilting, creating Christmas ornaments, homemaker's group, baking bread, travel tours, being a 4-H leader, and  raising prize-winning vegetables many of which she canned and shared. She was raised in a    Christian home, and the faith instilled in her at an early age was important to her throughout her life. Donna participated in many church functions such as choir, Circle, Ladies Aid, taught Sunday school, and headed the quilting group. Family, friends and church raffles have all been recipients of her beautiful creations.  Donna kept in shape by riding her stationary bike.  However, it wore out after 30,000 miles.  Yes, Donna really recorded her miles each day.  Her competitive spirit showed when playing marbles.  She knocked off her opponent any chance she could.  Donna  enjoyed every moment with her family and had a way of making every celebration memorable. She moved to Glenwood Estates, only living at assisted living for four days.  Donna passed away at Glenwood Village Care Center following a stroke. Donna is survived by her four children: Grace (Roger) Larson of Starbuck, MN; Dan (Diane)    Knutson of Sauk Centre, MN; Sue (Rick) Anderson of Glenwood, MN; and Karl (Sandy) Knutson of West Bend, WI; ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, a brother, Roger (JoClaire) Paulson of Grand Forks, ND; two brothers-in-law Earl (Lorraine) Knutson of Terrace, MN and Howard (Paulette) Knutson of Anchorage, AK; as well as many nieces and nephews. Donna is preceded in death by her husband LeRoy in 1977, parents Tillie and Sam Paulson, and brother Vergil Paulson.
