Elaine Bakko, age 75, of Glenwood, MN, and formerly of Terrace, died Thursday, May 22, 2014, at her home under the care of Glacial Ridge Hospice.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 24th at Chippewa Falls Lutheran Church in Terrace, MN, with Rev. Kathy Hartley officiating.  Visitation will be on Saturday at the church beginning at 1:00 P.M. and running until the time of service.  Interment will be in Chippewa Falls Lutheran Cemetery.  Arrangements are with Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home of Glenwood. Elaine Paulson, daughter of Herman and Ada (Heifner) Paulson, was born on December 22, 1938, in Rosholt, SD.  She grew up on a farm near Rosholt and then attended high school at the Morris Agriculture School in Morris, MN.  While a student there, Elaine met her husband, Orval.  After graduating, she worked in St. Paul at the University of Minnesota for a short time before her marriage to Orval Loren Bakko on October 10, 1959.  Their marriage was blessed with four children, Lori, Marcia, Steven, and Loren.  The family made their home on a farm near Terrace, where Elaine worked the farm alongside Orval until his death in 1992.  While farming near Terrace, Elaine and her family were active members of Chippewa Falls Lutheran Church. In 1995, Elaine moved to Atlantic Beach, FL, where she worked as the Chief Financial Officer for a transportation company.  She retired in 2003 and continued to reside in Florida until recently, when she returned to Glenwood.  She was residing at Glenwood Estates at the time of her death. Elaine will always be remembered for her loving attitude and strong work ethic.  She enjoyed life on the farm as well as walks on her sandy Florida beach.  Her devotion to her family was evident in everything she did.  As grandchildren came along, Elaine took on the name "Granny".  This title fit her to a "T" with her sporty red car, and young care-free attitude.  The encouragement, support and love she showed her family were unmatched. Elaine is survived by her children, Marcia (Kevin) Meyer of Ponte Vedra, FL, Steven Bakko, of Glenwood, and Loren (Carmen) Bakko of Glenwood; 5 grandchildren, Landon and Aaron Meyer, and Rachel, Ashley and Emily Bakko; 2 sisters, Dorothy (Ed) Fry of Ponte Vedra, FL and Carole (Brett) Mehlhoff of Atlantic Beach, FL; a brother, Gene (Bev) Paulson of Victor, SD; as well as nieces, nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Ada Paulson; her husband, Orval; her daughter, Lori; and granddaughter, Chelsea.
