Obituary

Eldean "Gunner" S. Gunvalson, age 76, of Farwell, MN, died unexpectedly on Monday, February 19, 2018. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, February 26th at the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood, MN, with Pastor Janna Bader officiating. Inurnment at Lake Emily Cemetery will be at a later date. Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood.

Eldean "Gunner" S. Gunvalson, son of Harris and Irene (Whitmer) Gunvalson, was born August 8, 1941, in Cyrus, Minnesota. As a child his family lived in many different places in Minnesota and Alaska. Gunner served in the both the Alaska and Minnesota National Guard for a total of 23 years.

Prior to his retirement, Gunner was self-employed as an auto mechanic in Farwell and worked at Andes Tower Hills in Kensington. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, and an occasional beer. He was a member of the Kensington American Legion.

Gunner died unexpectedly on Monday, February 19th. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Gunner is survived by his son, Joe Gunvalson, and daughter, Jeri (Curt Huizinga) Gunvalson, along with their children, Bradley and Kayla Huizinga, all of Farwell; his significant other, Susan Landry of Lowry; and his sister, Sandra Leach of Brainerd.

Gunner was preceded in death by his parents, Harris and Irene Gunvalson, and an infant son, Clifford.
