Ethel A. Rosten age 95 of Glenwood, died Saturday, March 17, 2018 at the Glenwood Retirement Village. Services will be held on Thursday, March 22nd with a visitation from 8:30-9:00 am with a prayer service at 9 am at All's Saint's Chapel in the Glenwood Retirement Village with Chaplain Bonnie Lomen officiating. Following the prayer service a visitation will be at Glenwood Lutheran Church from 10:00 - 11:00 am with a funeral service at 11:00 am with Rev. Krista Lee officiating. Interment will be in Glenwood Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood.
Ethel was born September 27, 1922, in Enderlin, ND, to parents, Harold and Ingeborg (Johnson) Trangsrud. She was baptized in Mower County, ND and in 1922 her family moved to Glenwood where she was confirmed at the Glenwood Lutheran Church in 1936. She graduated from Glenwood High School in 1940. Ethel married Clifford J. Rosten after he was discharged from the U.S. Army in 1945. Ethel and Clifford had four children, Randi, Michael, Rikka, and Karen. In addition to raising her children Ethel was a store clerk at H.B. Olson Five and Dime and Skogmos. After retirement Ethel was a foster grandma at the Glenwood Elementary School. Ethel also loved to play cards and was a member of the same card club for over 50 years.
Ethel is survived by her daughters, Randi (Gary) Tomberlin of Vancouver, WA, Rikka Rosten of Minneapolis and Karen Rosten of Minneapolis; 6 grandchildren Lonnie (Laura) Tomberlin, Holly Tomberlin, Katie Tomberlin, Christopher (Kim) Rosten, Michele (Greg) Grayson, Anthony (Stefanie) Rosten; (12) great-grandchildren; (5) great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Ethel is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clifford and son, Michael, sisters Inez Ahlers, Hedwig Magnuson, Julia Thompson, brothers-in-law Edwin James, George Ahlers, Harold Magnuson, LeRoy Thompson, niece Shirley Pederson and her husband Robert Pederson, and brothers-in-law, Ernest Rosten and wife Ethel, Knute Rosten and wife Shirley.
