Fern L. Doble, age 81 of rural Glenwood, died Sunday, August 3, 2014 at her home. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 7th at Scandia Lutheran Church in rural Glenwood with Rev. Ron Knutson officiating. A private family inurnment will be held at Fort Snelling at a later date. Arrangements are with the Hopin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood.
Fern Lorraine Christianson, daughter of Edwin and Alma (Solbreken) Christianson, was born on January 14, 1933, at home in Barsness Township.
On October 17, 1981, Fern was united in marriage to Lee Doble. The two resided in Shakopee for many years before retiring and moving to their current home on Lake Gilchrist. Fern had many passions including her family (especially her grandchildren), her dogs, attending auctions, gardening, and baking to name a few. She was fluent in Norwegian and enjoyed conversing with others who also spoke the language.
Fern is survived by her husband, Lee Doble of Glenwood; children, Lori Volk of Alexandria, Keith (Stefanie) Nelson of Shakopee, Kaye (David) Ronning of Lakeville; grandsons, Trevis (Audra) Klingelhutz of LeCenter, Luke (Katie) Volk of Lakeville; great-grandchildren, Kimberly, Ben, Becca, TJ, Zac, Kenzie and Lexi; a brother, Omer (Pearl) Christianson of Glenwood; her twin brother, Forrest (Judy) Christianson of Belgrade; nieces, nephews; stepsons, Pete (Karen) Doble of Jordan, MN and Kent (Emily) Doble of Burnsville; step-grandchildren, Willie, Samantha and Nick.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Alma Christianson; as well as her beloved dogs, Odie, Bowe and Cubby.
