Gene O. Jorgenson age 90 of Glenwood, died Saturday, February 28, 2015 at the Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 7th at First Baptist Church in Glenwood.  Visitation will be on Friday from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Glenwood and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.  Interment will be in the Girard Union Cemetery in rural Henning, Minnesota.  Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood. Gene Oleen Jorgenson the son of John and Bertha (Aaberg) Jorgenson was born January 28, 1925 in Rothsay, Minnesota.  He attended school in Rothsay and Fergus Falls.  Gene worked for farmers as a farmhand and at a filing station until the draft.  He entered the United States Army on May 21, 1943.  He served overseas in November 1943 in the European Theater until the end of WWII when he was honorably discharged on December 23, 1945.  Gene re-enlisted in the Army in November 1948 serving in Germany until he was honorable discharge on August 22, 1952. Gene was united in marriage to Bernice Kimber on April 10, 1952.  They made their home in Fergus Falls, Minnesota until 1968 when they moved to South Minneapolis.  Gene worked for Park Region Bakery until moving to Minneapolis.  After moving, Gene worked for the Zinmasters Bakery from 1968 until he retired in 1982.   Gene and Bernice enjoyed fishing, hunting, spending time together as a family and taking family vacations.  Gene and Bernice shared 28 years of marriage before Bernice passed away on April 28, 1980.  Gene moved to the Lowry/Glenwood area in 1987 where he has made his home since. Gene was proud of his Christianity and enjoyed listening to Gospel music, watching Christian T.V. and reading his Bible daily.  He was a member of the American Legion Post #253 in Lowry and the DAV chapter 25 in Fergus Falls. Gene is survived by his children: Renae Isler of Bloomington, MN, Judith Jorgenson of Rosemount, MN, Kim (Lucille) Jorgenson of Holm City, MN, Annette Anderson of Eagan, MN and Faye (Bryan) Bosek of Glenwood; 7 grandchildren: Jennifer (Yong Ho) Park, Chris (Heather) Anderson, Dan (Melissa) Anderson, Kyle Anderson, Tony Jorgenson, Cody Bosek, Zachery Bosek; step-grandchildren, Jason and Paul Pederson; great-grandchildren, Noah, Joshua and Sarah Park, Nolan Anderson and Lauren Anderson; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Gene is preceded in death by his parents, wife Bernice Jorgenson; sister, Burdell McMillian; and brothers, Gerald, Rodney and David Jorgenson.
