Gladys Homman, age 101, of Glenwood, MN, died Friday, March 7, 2014, at Glenwood Retirement Village. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 12th, at All Saint's Chapel in Glenwood Retirement Village. Pastor Jeff Ozanne will officiate. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service. Inurnment will be in Glenwood Cemetery. Arrangements are with Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home of Glenwood.
Gladys Homman was born in Pope County, Minnesota, on July 25, 1912. She was the fourth daughter born to William and Amelia (Simonson) Homman. Gladys graduated with the Glenwood High School class of 1931. Following high school, she attended Lee's Beauty School and later, in 1935, took advanced training at the American Studio of Hair Fashion in Chicago, IL. She worked in the beauty shop of the Ladies Garment Shop for 5 years before starting her own hair salon. She enjoyed traveling, hiking, and collecting U.S. and foreign post cards. For the past several years Gladys has been a resident of Glenwood Retirement Village.
Gladys is survived by many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Faun Homman; and two sisters in infancy.
