Gladys J. Pladson, age 96 of Glenwood, died Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at the Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood.  Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, May 11 ^th at Barsness Lutheran Church in rural Glenwood with Pastor Bonnie Loman officiating.  Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.  Interment will be in the church cemetery.  Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood.

Gladys Julia Pladson, the daughter of Joseph and Gertie (Disrud) Johnson was born August 1, 1918 in Glenwood, Minnesota.  She grew up on a farm near Glenwood, attended Barsness Lutheran Church and Country school in District #9.

Gladys was united in marriage to Orville E. Pladson on November 23, 1938 in Barsness Lutheran Church. They made their home on a farm near Glenwood. This marriage was blessed with three daughters, Dorothy, Carol and Gwen. Gladys and Orville continued farming until they moved to Glenwood on November 6, 1982.  They shared 56 years of marriage before Orville passed away in 1994. Gladys was a homemaker, worked at resorts part-time along with helping Orville on the farm.

She was a lifetime member of Barsness Lutheran Church where she enjoyed helping out. She was active with BLCW, circle, treasurer for the Sunday school, and was the historian for the church since 1976.  She enjoyed reading, loved to write letters and quilting.  She made afghans for the 3 daughters and 7 grand-children. Gladys also made quilts for her 3 daughters. Gladys was able to live independently at her home until she passed away, May 5, 2015 at the Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood.

Gladys is survived by her daughters, Dorothy (Richard) Vold, of Glenwood, Carol (Larry) Zmuda of Blaine, and Gwen (Wayne) Jacobson, of Blaine; grandchildren, Valerie (Mark) Vold Harvey, Bradley (Suzanne) Vold and Greg (Charity) Vold, Lynn (Sean) DelBene, LeAnn Jacobson, and Michael and Mark Zmuda; great-children, Gabby and Alby Zmuda, Anna, Erik, and Katy Vold, Justin and Nicholas DelBene, Courtney Jacobson, Aidric, Roran and Braigh Vold, and great-great grandchild, Jayden Jacobson; sister, Mildred Smoot from Redmond, WA; sister-in-law Idella Johnson from Willmar, MN; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Orville, 3 sisters, Josephine Feigum, Evelyn Johnson and Lizzie Torfin; 3 brothers, Arthur Johnson, James Johnson and Norman Johnson
