Obituary

Grace Delorys Rosten, age 85, of Starbuck, MN, passed away at home on September 28, 2019, with her family by her side. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at Glenwood Lutheran Church in Glenwood with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Indherred Lutheran Cemetery in rural Starbuck. Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood.

Grace was born July 24, 1934, in Minneapolis, MN to Ludvig "Louie" and Ruth (Gustafson) Nordquist. On August 5, 1956, Grace was wed to Alfred Duane Evjen. Duane passed away on July 13, 1974, leaving Grace to raise their four daughters, age 10 to 17, alone. On January 4, 1977, Grace married Norman Rosten. They made their home in Brooten, MN until 1981, when they moved to Priest Point on Lake Minnewaska. Grace was widowed on February 11, 1999, when Norm passed away at age 66.

She enjoyed leisurely lunches, spending time with family, and going on adventures with her daughters and dear sisters-in-law, Ann Velde and Audrey Nelson, including traveling to Norway, Sweden, and California Wine Country. Until her health condition made it impossible, Grace was an active member of Glenwood Lutheran Church.

Grace will be remembered for her tenacity, wit, and undying love. She leaves behind four daughters: Cheryl (Terry) Schmidt, Debra (Harry) Orstad, Linda (Lonnie) Hegna, and DeAnna Evjen; four stepchildren: Mark (Darlene) Rosten, Dean Rosten, Kim Bok, and Chris (Jessica) Rosten; seven grandchildren: Michelle (Eric) Sandquist, Chad (Kristina) Jacobson, Jill (Marc) Dawson, Sara (Adam) Quale, Greggory Carey, Andrea (Brian) Neisig, and Erin (Jason) Hintze; 14 great-grandchildren: Brandon, Emma, and Tyler Sandquist; Elin and Ingrid Jacobson; Alivia and Brooke Dawson; Ryan Hegna; Taya and Davin Quale; Kaylee and Samantha Swenson, and Aimee Jo Hintze; and Mason Barnard;  a brother Robert (Audrey) Nordquist; and sisters-in-law, Betty Rosten, Helen Hagen, Timmie Baukol and June Nicholson; as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husbands, Grace was preceded in death by her parents, and by her sister, Lois Anderson.

Sincerest appreciation and gratitude to Glacial Ridge Hospice – especially Paris, Billy, Katie, Sarah and Dr. Haus – for their compassion, wisdom, and tenderness.
