Hilda Hattie (Johnson) Meinz, age 72, of Lowry, MN, died Wednesday, February 4, 2015, at home under the care of Hospice and surrounded by her loved ones.  A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 14th, at St John Nepomuk, rural Lowry, with Fr. James Statz officiating.  Visitation will be Saturday at the church, beginning at 10:00 A.M.  Inurnment will be in St. John Nepomuk Cemetery.  Arrangements are with Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home of Glenwood. Hilda was born in Bejou, MN, to Melvin and Hattie (Thompson) Johnson, the youngest of eight children.  When Hilda was a baby, the family moved to Mahnomen, MN.  Hilda graduated from Mahnomen High School in 1960. Hilda was united in marriage to David Meinz in Fargo, ND, on November 21, 1964.  They had two sons, Ken and Brian.  While her children were young, Hilda was primarily a stay-at-home mom, caring for her two boys.  She also held a Real Estate license, an Appraisers license and her Insurance license.  She worked for a local real estate company and also painted low-income apartments. Hilda loved working in her garden, growing vegetables and flowers.  She also had a love of sewing and made all sorts of craft items.  She especially enjoyed using her talents to create Memory Bears for people, using clothes from their love ones who had passed away.   Hilda and Dave enjoyed fishing together until the arthritis in Hilda's hands became so bad that she could no longer handle a fishing rod. Hilda is survived by her husband, David, son Ken and his wife, Jodi; two sisters, Ardelle Engebretson, Inez Setness and her husband, Marvin, and many, many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son, Brian; her parents, Melvin and Hattie Johnson; two brothers, Rudy and Arnold; three sisters, Beverly Eisner, Hazel Krabbenhoft, Buelah Wolbeck, one nephew, Wayne Bjerken; and two nieces, Marlene VanHicke and Corrine Wolbeck.
