Obituary

James "Jim" Henry Waage, the son of Sherman and Betty (Jenney) Waage was born on April 1, 1958 in Morris, MN. Most of his younger years were spent in Morris, MN but he also lived in Langdon, ND for several years with his family. He graduated from Morris High School in 1976 and then attended St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN and graduated with a degree in chemistry in 1980. He attended Wartburg Seminary in Dubuque, IA the next year. He graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1989 with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree. On September 29, 1990 he was united in marriage to Jean Hollenstein at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in St. Paul Park, MN. They made their home first in Melrose and then Glenwood, MN. He practiced large and small animal medicine at the Melrose Veterinary Clinic and also enjoyed working with dairy nutrition for Land-O-Lakes and West-Con. Since 1999 he co-owned and worked with his wife Jean at Glacial Ridge Veterinary Clinic in Glenwood. Jim was a member of the AVMA and the MVMA and his Church Youth Board. He enjoyed playing City League Basketball, marathon running, playing guitar and trombone and singing. When he was younger Jim served several years as a camp counselor in Wisconsin and also worked as a professional musician. He loved helping both animals and people. Jim was a man of deep faith and was committed to his family and his God. He spent time at Holden Village, WA and was a member of the community of St. Martins Table in Minneapolis. Jim will be remembered as a hardworking, compassionate man with a mean ping-pong swing. We will never forget his gentle nature, beautiful music, endless humor and inimitable spirit. He leaves a legacy of love, music and laughter. Jim was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's in 2009 and crossed over on Saturday March 28th, 2015 at Prairie Senior Cottages in Alexandria surrounded in love by his wife and sons. He is survived by his parents Sherman and Betty Waage of Morris, MN, wife Jean and sons Christian and Matthew of Glenwood, brother Roger (MaryBeth) of Duluth and nieces Liz, Emily and Annie Waage and Ellen VanTuyl and nephew Lucas VanTuyl and many cousins.
