Obituary

Janet "Hon" A. Koubsky, age 82 of Glenwood, died Thursday, January 28, 2016 at the Glenwood Retirement Village in Glenwood.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 6th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glenwood with Father Joe Vandeberg officiating.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.  Interment will be in the St. John Nepomuk Catholic Cemetery in rural Lowry.  Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood.

Janet Ann Star was born December 29, 1933, to Bob and Christine (Dynda) Star at their home in Reno Township, Pope County, MN. As a young girl, Janet attended country school with her two older sisters Betty and Viola. She graduated from Glenwood High School and moved to Minneapolis and worked as a telephone operator for a trucking company. On June 22nd, 1954, she was united in marriage to Joseph Koubsky at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church. Together they lived and farmed on the Star family farm. Janet and Joe had many interests; they loved to dance, and belonged to a square dance club for 19 years. They also loved to play cards, whist was their favorite game. They travelled and visited all 48 states, camping, fishing and enjoying family and friends was the highlight of their trips. Janet was also involved for over 40 years with the American Legion Auxiliary in Lowry, MN. Many knew her as "Hon", which was short for her nickname "Honey".

Janet passed away on January, 28, 2016 at the age of 82, at Glenwood Village Care Center, Glenwood, MN. She will be deeply missed by her loving family and friends. She is survived by her sister Betty Chan, sisters-in law, Lil, Dorothy, Elaine, and Karen Koubsky, brothers-in-law Jerry Kalina, and Dick Kaminski; also many nieces and nephews and special neighbors/friends, Mark and Denise Olson and family.

She was preceded in death by her husband Joe, her parents, Bob and Christine, her sister Viola Kalina and brothers-in-law, Chuck, Frank, George Koubsky and Leonard Chan, sisters-in-law Mary Kaminski and Babe Koubsky.
