Obituary

Jason Johnson, age 37 of Glenwood, died unexpectedly at the Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, September 28th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glenwood with Father Joe Vandeberg officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Glenwood. Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood.

Since Jason was a huge Minnesota Vikings Fan - his family is requesting that if you have Vikings apparel, to wear it to his visitation or funeral.

Jason Eugene Johnson, the son of Linda Johnson (Pitzen) Birkholtz was born March 11, 1981 in Glenwood, Minnesota. Jason grew up in Glenwood, attending Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Minnewaska Area High School. He graduated from Minnewaska Area High School in 1999.

On September 19, 2009, Jason was united in marriage to Jessica Jahnke at St. Williams Catholic Church in Parkers Prairie. They made their home in Alexandria and were blessed with two children, Joshua and Emily. Jason moved to Glenwood in 2017.

He was employed at Clyde's Machines in Glenwood for eleven years. He enjoyed putting together puzzles, watching game shows, and sports, collecting DVDs, and Marvel memorabilia, playing magic cards and video games. Jason especially loved watching the Minnesota Vikings and spending time with his children and family. He will be remembered for his kind heart, great sense of humor and smile. Jason passed away unexpectedly on September 21, 2018 at the Glacial Ridge Hospital.

He is survived by his children: Joshua and Emily Johnson of Alexandria; mom, Linda (Paul) Birkholtz of Glenwood; siblings: Holly Swedal of Alexandria, Heather Johnson of Glenwood, Mike Johnson of Alexandria and Jesse Johnson of Alexandria; a special friend, Nicole Hanson as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Jason was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alfred and Lucille Pitzen, and uncles, Joseph Pitzen and David Olson.
