Jeannette Myrtle Lundblad Peterson, 89, of Glenwood, passed away August 15, 2022. Funeral services will be at 11 am, on Friday, Aug. 19th at Barsness Lutheran Church in rural Glenwood. Visitation will be Thursday, from 5-7 p.m. at the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood and will continue one hour prior to service on Friday. Burial will be in Barsness Cemetery.
Jeannette M.L. Peterson was born on July 19th, 1933 in Donnelly, MN to Clifford and Minnie (Store) Lundblad. She graduated from Glenwood High School in the Class of 1951. Following graduation, she worked as a telephone operator at Northwestern Bell Telephone office until automation. Jeannette married Ralph J.A. Peterson on April 5, 1953, at Ben Wade Covenant Church in Lowry, MN. They settled on a farm in Chippewa Township tending the fields and milking cows. They had three children, Janel, Mark, and Charlene. In 1975, her role changed from farmer's wife to pastor's wife as she supported Ralph as he graduated from Luther Seminary and accepted his first call. They served parishes in Kadoka, South Dakota; Sacred Heart, MN; Buffalo Lake, MN, and other interim locations. Jeannette adjusted to whatever life brought her way all while caring for family, preparing wonderful meals, maintain the home, volunteering, mowing lawn, and caring for gardens. She enjoyed music, singing, and was a loving, wife, mother, grandma, great-grandma, and friend. Following retirement, Ralph and Jeannette returned to Glenwood to enjoy the view of beautiful Lake Minnewaska.
Jeannette is survived by her husband, Ralph; Janel (Terry) Mays of Alexandria, MN; Mark Peterson of Glenwood, MN; Charlene (Jeff) Tri of Rochester, MN; seven grandchildren, Christine (Tim), David (Jennifer), Ethan (Beth), Emily (Curt), Heidi, Chris, and Jason; and 5 great-grandchildren; her brother, Elroy (Judy) Lundblad, and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Doris Thorson, brothers-in-law, Kermit Thorson, Curtis, Robert, and Hans Peterson.
Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home.
