Obituary

Jimmy Dale Jenkins, 70, died on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at his home in rural Starbuck, MN. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 on Saturday, June 6th at the Barsness Lutheran Church in Glenwood with Pastor Bonnie Lomen officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood.

Jimmy was born November 5, 1944 in Springfield, MN to James Jenkins and Gertrude (Meine) Willhite. He was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church in Springfield and confirmed at the Barsness Lutheran Church in Glenwood. Jimmy attended the Starbuck School and then enlisted in the Army in 1968. He was honorably discharged in 1970 after serving in the Vietnam War. After the Army, Jimmy worked at the Hagen turkey farm, a job which he very much enjoyed and appreciated. The Hagens and Quigleys were family to him.

On June 14, 2004, Jimmy married the love of his life, Virginia Sinfuego. They made their home on the farm south of Starbuck and you rarely saw one without the other. You could tell Jimmy was happy by the big smile that was always on his face after they married. When Jimmy became ill, it was Virginia that cared for him often spending many nights in the hospital by his side. Virginia made a big difference in his life and his family is eternally gratefully for her dedication to him.

He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Virginia of Starbuck; brothers, Ernest Jenkins of Springfield and David Jenkins of Eagle Bend; sister, Joan Melchert of Osakis; sisters-in-law, Helen Jenkins of Starbuck and Merlita Davids of Starbuck; brother-in-law, Roger Nelson of Nelson and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Donald Willhite; brothers, Leonard, Steven and Donald Jenkins; sister, Jane Nelson; sisters-in-law, Patty and Donna Jenkins; brother-in-law, Mervin Melchert; nephews, Anthony, Gary and Harold; and best friend, Norman Davids.
