JoAnne M. Brown, age 75 of Glenwood, died Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, April 17th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glenwood with Father Joe Vandeberg officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. with Parish Prayers at 7 p.m. at the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood. Visitation will also continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glenwood.

JoAnne Marie Brown the daughter of Dennis and Margaret (Lodermeier) Lyon was born July 16, 1942 in Searle, Minnesota. She grew up on a farm near Geneseo, ND and attended school at Geneseo Elementary and later high school in Lidgerwood, ND. She graduated from Lidgerwood High School.

On January 19, 1963, JoAnne was united in marriage to Donald D. Brown at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Lidgerwood. This marriage was blessed with three daughters. JoAnne and Donald made their home in NE Minneapolis, moving to their first home in St. Louis Park, MN. The couple moved to Champlin in 1967 and lived there until 1985 when they moved to Albertville. In 1997, they purchased their current home in Grove Lake Township and in 2000 they moved to Grove Lake permanently.

JoAnne was employed at the city of Champlin as the city clerk for 28 years. When JoAnne and Donald moved to Grove Lake, they became members of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glenwood and JoAnne became a member of the Christian Mothers and the Sacred Heart Mission group. JoAnne enjoyed reading, sewing, quilting, baking and fishing. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be remembered for her strong faith, generous heart and love of her family. JoAnne passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Donald Brown of Grove Lake; daughters: Denise (David) Kallas of Sugar Grove, IL, Laura (Jim) Helgeson of Big Lake, MN and Linda (Paul) Helvick of Richfield, WI; grandchildren: Brittany, Josh, Ben, Sophia, Margaret, Melanie and Nicholas; great-grandchildren, Parker and Audrey; sisters: Judy (Jim) Buckhouse, Jean Knoll and Mary (Mark) Bruun; brothers, James (Marlene) Lyon, John (Norma) Lyon and Thomas (Karla) Lyon; her brothers and sisters-in-law and their families: Robert Brown, Gilman Brown, Richard Brown, Ronald Brown, Alan Brown, Jackie Lyon, Kathy Lyon and Joyce Moen; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

JoAnne is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Jerome and Joseph Lyon and brother-in-law, Randy Knoll.
