Joyce M. Jacobs, age 90 of Glenwood, formerly of Villard, died Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at the Glacial Ridge Hospital. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 15th at St. John's Lutheran Church in Villard with Rev. Philip Beyersdorf officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be in the West Lake Amelia Cemetery in rural Villard. Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood.

Joyce Jacobs, daughter of Henry and Frances (Miller) Krumrey, was born on January 16, 1928, in Westport, Minnesota. She was raised on the family farm near Villard, with her brother, Leland, and two sisters, Bernice and Marian. She and her family attended St. John's Lutheran Church in Villard and she was a 1945 graduate of Villard High School.

On October 5, 1946, Joyce was united in marriage to Robert Jacobs in Nashua, Iowa, at the Little Brown Church, featured in the song "The Church in the Wildwood."  The two made their home on the shores of Lake Amelia where they owned and operated a mink ranch and farmed dairy cattle. Their marriage was blessed with four children, two sons, Robert Jr. and Kevin, and two daughters, Paula and Kimberly. Joyce and Robert later divorced. Robert died in 2000.

Joyce loved the outdoors. She knew the names of all of the wildflowers, was an avid mushroom hunter, and was a successful gardener. Living for years on Lake Amelia, she was able to enjoy watersports like sailing, rowing, fishing, waterskiing, and swimming. She also enjoyed cooking and spending time in the kitchen, reading and travel. She was blessed to make her dream trip around the world in the 70's with one of her favorite stops at Sri Lanka.

Joyce had been a resident of Glenwood Retirement Village since 2015. She passed away at Glacial Ridge Hospital on Wednesday, December 11, 2018, at the age of 90. Blessed be the memory of Joyce Jacobs.

Joyce is survived by her children, Robert and Kathy Jacobs of Villard, MN, Paula and Thomas Hinke of Marshfield, WI, Kimberly and Marlow Hubin of Westbrook, MN; 11 grandchildren, Jefferson Hinke, Nichole Stueland, Hans Hinke, Benjamin Hinke, Jennifer Crawford, Krista Schaeffer, Casandra Zemaitis, Garrett Hubin, Amelia Hubin, Kaylee Jacobs, and Bradley Jacobs; 12 great-grandchildren, Deanna and Jackson Stueland, Olan, Finn, Greer, and Harriett Hinke, and Violet and Bryn Hubin; Bailee, Quinn and Hattie Schaeffer, and Lincoln Crawford; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Frances Krumrey; her former husband, Robert Jacobs; one son, Kevin Jacobs; two sisters, Bernice Krumrey and Marian Shipton; and her brother, Leland Krumrey.
